More than $1 million donated to the community by the Virgil Business Association since 1967
|Future Project: Virgil Splash Pad
The Virgil Business Association is planning its largest project in its very long history of giving back to the community – a splash pad for children on the Virgil Sports Park property, nestled between soccer fields.
The design is still in the works but it would look similar to the sketch above, and would provide a place for families with young children to congregate in Virgil.
The project is in very preliminary stages, but the Virgil Business Association hopes to have the design and all associated costs ready so that when there is an opportunity for a grant from upper levels of government to help pay for it, they will be able to move ahead with an application.
When that happens, the Virgil Business Association expects to contribute up to one-third of the cost, so it will be an expensive project, but worth it for the local families.
There are pools in the Old Town and in St. Davids, but the town can’t afford a third pool, so this will be a great water-related activity for the young families in the growing community of Virgil – an area where parents and their children can congregate and have some fun together.
It’s a very ambitious undertaking and a very exciting one for the small group of businesses, but it would provide something in Virgil that children can enjoy for generations to come.
